Consider the way you are building

“Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.”Haggai 1:5 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Zephaniah 2–3; Haggai 1–2.

Zephaniah's hope of a humbled, restored people is followed by Haggai's call to resume the neglected temple work. The returned community has become absorbed in its own houses while God's house lies unfinished. The people respond and begin again despite limited resources.

The appeal is not a licence to pressure people into funding every religious building project. It asks whether a clear shared responsibility has been displaced by private comfort. Faithful priorities require discernment about actual needs and responsible use of resources.

Review where your time and money have been going. Identify one worthwhile responsibility you have left waiting while repeatedly improving your own convenience. Offer a realistic contribution without making a commitment that ignores essential care for your household.

A question to sit with

What worthwhile duty keeps waiting while I make room for another personal convenience?

AN EVERYDAY ACT OF LOVE

Give a responsible portion of time or skill to a clearly needed shared task.

Let us pray

God of faithful priorities, help me consider my ways honestly. Show me neglected responsibilities, guide generous and prudent action and keep shared religious work grounded in genuine need rather than pressure or display. Amen.
